I agree that happiness causes s...</title><content type='html'>Interesting post!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I agree that happiness causes success more than success causes happiness. And there&amp;#39;s a good deal of psychological research that supports this idea.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But happiness and success are not completely inseperable. Happiness, especially medium-term &amp;quot;mindset happiness&amp;quot;, is more closely related to working towards a goal with the belief you will achieve it than it is with achieving the goal. Goal achievement is closer to short-term &amp;quot;emotional happiness&amp;quot; which is a burst of positive emotion which quickly dissipates. For larger achievements it may remain longer, but the lasting effects are generally much smaller than assumed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This also affects the happiness/circumstances connection. Happiness is less associated with one&amp;#39;s current circumstances than it is with the perception that one&amp;#39;s circumstances are improving. So if you&amp;#39;re in a bad situation you&amp;#39;re unlikely to be happy, and it may be hard to make the situation seem good.
